I played the God of War III demo on the PS3 and was seriously impressed. But I haven't played God of War I or II. Luckily my PS3 is a backwards compatible one. Is it worth it to go back and play the first two games for the sake of continuity?

BC is not necessary, they released 1 and 2 as the God of War collection on blu-ray so you should grab that.

Yeah much better option since it is in HD. Story is good, I'd play the first 2 first definitely

Story wise, I would say someone should play GoW I and II before III. I mean, III starts EXACTLY where II ends, so...

As gorcorps mentioned, you should pick up the God of War collection, which has I and II together on a single Blu-ray disc (improved graphics over the originals).

Just picked up God of War Collection for $25 shipped at Amazon. I been playing the first GOW all weekend and the game is amazing. If you have a PS3 and have never play GOW series on the PS2 then you need to get this game. It's that good.

How much of an improvement does the collection realistically have over the PS2 versions? In other words, if you already have the latter, is the collection still worth getting?

Depends if trophies are worth it for you pretty much, though I personally thing it looks better.

Holy crispy crap this game is hard (playing on Hard level). I don't think I've slammed my fist in rage so many times playing a game. The part where you have to push the cage up the ramp. . . gah. .. I must have spent two or three hours on that.

The before photos look like the interlaced versions. They're not so bad in progressive mode. The compilation definitely has better anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing.
