I don't care if a game I want badly is one hour. It's one our that I know will be better than the rest of the shit other developers can put out.

I think this game is overrated however.

10 hours sounds about normal for a GoW game. I usually beat them a few times to get all the unlockables and such, though.

im guessing those of you who are surprised by the 10 hours of gameplay have never played a god of war game before...

I tend to run a little slower than most reviewers (at least it appears that way to me) so I know I'll get probably 12-13 hours.

Besides, the first GoW was a 8-10 hour game and the second was 12-14. This game is going to be worth your $60.

I am still playing through the GoW collection. I haven't played in a couple of weeks, but I think I am nearing the end of GoW I and will go to GoW II next. I had intended on GoW III being a day 1 purchase, but I think I'll finish the other two first and then maybe see if I can snag a deal on eBay once people have beaten it.

10 hours of gameplay is exactly why I have a gamefly account. I'd digest this in a single setting on a weekend.

Only games so far for the PS3 that I've actually justified buying is Darksiders due to replayability/all around amazing fun, and FF13 due to the fact that the hours per dollar ratio is acceptable. Everything else is just a gamefly rental till I beat it.

10 hours is worth my 60 dollars. I usually take a bit longer anyway and I'll replay it on the hardest mode.

Overrated? It's not even out yet.

10 hours is pretty disappointing, but when they do everything on such an epic scale and now have to transfer that to PS3 and everything has to look realistic and run silky smooth, I guess it makes sense. Probably cost a lot of money to make, too.

God of war games are all 9+ out of 10. Not judging by IGN but personal experience. Maybe we'll get to see some graphically realistic HD boobs in this one :D

Game is meant to be replayed as every god of war has been. You'll collect items then go back and get to areas you usually couldn't without those items. Not even to mention the gladiator arena, I can't wait for that!

10hrs??? Definitely a rental. A good rental but a rental none the less.

biggest selling game of all time (MW2) has about 3 hours of single player game time. I know, they are not the same thing (MW2 is mostly online), but honeslty nowdays hardly any game has more then roughly 6-8 hours to get through it, unless its a RPG. At about 8 right now in FFXIII and i just fought my first "boss" fight that was actually tough and made me shift a paragram a few times where i "had" to think about it.

8-10 hours is pretty much the "same" as every other single player game. Now if they could get rid of the kiddy casual buttom mash crap they use FAR TO much in the GOW games (ya, I know I'm minorty on hating timed button smashing). I jsut got the collection for the PS3 so i was ready for the new one (never played um before).

as i've stated before, if you are button mashing in GOW games and winning, then you are playing in easy difficulty.

you cant do well by mashing on the normal and harder difficulties, you need to pull off combos, dodge attacks, and block.

Hmm I did say button mashing, I guess i ment "timed button matching" to what is on the screen (guitar hero on a action game), dont like it at all. Dodgeing attacks, learning the combos that work best, YES! all for it. hit O button when it pops on the screen, then hitting X (or whatever random button the game decides) next, NOPE DO NOT LIKE IT.. but i know I'm in the minority on that.

Still a pretty good game (GOW original is all i have played so far) and fun to see what is next!

ah you are talking about quick time events (QTE for short).

while those are SOMEWHAT a part of the combat in GoW, you don't NEED to do them for most of the battles you face, other than the bosses. even though it shows to press circle to start one on some of the normal enemies (like the big ogres or whatever they are called), you don't HAVE to press circle in order to kill them.

personally i love doing them because it changes to a cinematic kill and usually gruesome.

Those are called quick time events.

As much as I love GOW, I don't care for those either, but I think they have their place and in some cases are more fitting than the alternatives.
It's either interactive with the quick time events, or you could just watch a cinematic of what is supposed to be happening, but that wouldn't be a challenge or engaging. Or they could do away with the whole portion, but then you'd lose some pretty cool boss take downs and they would just have to die after hitting them enough times like any regular enemy.

Hehe I am not a fan of QTE :) color matching in Guitar hero (strangely I do enjoy when we get together and play GH, i just watch) is so much like the old kiddi game SIMON to me.

I do admit my hate for QTE comes from not knowing the trangle button is top the X button is bottom, square is left and O is right (FFXIII is forceing me to learn this as well as GOW collection i just purchased). I know my games by top button, left button, right button, bottom button... and I must admit I feel like the old dog trying to learn new tricks. Much like i hate FPS on consoles (pc mouse KB is wonderfull) as i cant control them for crap (not to mention there are a million of um that pretty much suck even if you could control um).

Right now the speed smash (sorry old term from arcade game Track & Field) such as when the hydra had you in its mouth whre you ahve to repat the O button to get out.. I cant just do it, i have ot put the control in my lap and use my main finger (which would normaly be on the shoulder buttons on the right side)..

basicly i suck at QTE so maybe thats alot of the reason why i hate them.

IIRC, GoW III makes this easier by having the signal to press the TRIANGLE button appear at the top of the screen, X Button appears at the bottom of the screen, and so on and so forth. That way, you can press buttons based on the position they appear rather than the symbol on the button.
