God of War: Ascension [PS3]

Interesting that they announced it at 2am.

God of War doesn't excatly tickle by funny bone, but I'm sure a lot of geeks are gonna have strokes when they wake up tomorrow morning, hehe.

just FYI, amazon puts 12/31 releases for games that don't have a release date. it isn't an actual estimated release date or anything.

while gow3 was awesome as shit, i don't know i'll be purchasing this game day 1. i will probably redbox it. i beat gow3 in like 3 days i think and never touched it again.

Thrilled at this announcement, and now gives me hope I can possibly get my hands on it at E3.

Not too sure about that name though. Ascension sounds so...generic.

well the "ascension" title kind of makes sense if it continues after part 3, based on how part 3 ended.

Isn't this a prequel?

I actually really liked Jaffe's original idea of visiting various mythologies once GoW3 wrapped, but I'll wait to see what the plan is here.

Oh and Todd Pappy is a really smart guy, and seeing him promoted to director for this title gives me some hope. I really enjoyed GoW3 (played through it twice), however it really felt like it was the last of it's ilk that could successfully pull off it's combat mechanics. Something needs to change. I don't think they can just add a few new weapons and moves, a paradigm shift needs to take place.

At least in my opinion. 🙂

not sure if it's a prequel as i didn't watch the video, and i thought the prequel talk in the OP was just his own speculation.

I am definitely interested as I have played and loved all 5 games thus far. Not sure it will be a midnight-launch day purchase, but I will probably own it at some point.
