I just viewed five political commercials in a row. I now know that I won't vote for Syverson, Prochaska, Topinka, Blagojevich, or Auman.

I'm in IL too. I was just commenting to a co-worker that I can't wait until elections are over so the commercials stop. Cue evil voice "We can't trust Melissa Bean".

And there was one commercial that said a candidate pretty much wanted assault rifles in schools. I don't know anything about the candidate, but I'm willing to bet that he's not pro assault rifles in schools.

I'm predicting that by next elections, we'll have an ad claiming that the opponent eats baby hearts, and wants to export all our pizza to China.

Yep, attack ads have gotten so ridiculous they would be hard to parody.

You live in Lake Countyish, IL, don't you. I remember when Bean beat out that old geezer who had been in office since 1848.

I saw a commercial on tv the other day saying "Democrats did not support the abolition of slavery" in white text on black background. It said some other stuff about democrats as well, but this particular statement appalled me. How can this slander be considered a viable political ad? In case anyone is wondering, I'm in upstate NY.

As annoying as these ads are, they're also really depressing. Our goverment has turned into grown men/women acting like two year olds saying "no YOU'RE the doode-head". Instead of the candidates talking about things they've done to benefit the people they talk sh!t about each other. Granted almost all of them care only about the size of their bank account and where their next bribe is comming from, but at least use your bullsh!t-fu to your benefit for once.

I'm actually in Cook. But I seem to be getting ads from every district. Yeah, it was actually a little more amazing when she got 40+% of the vote the time before with no national funding help against a 33yr incumbent who had just had re-districting done to further secure his position.

Actually back then I don't think that most Democrats supported the abolition of slavery. But you have to remember it was 150 years ago, Fredrick Douglas was a Republican.

I'm sick of the commercials too. Best the left can come up with is some loosely connected story and then the words "we can't trust <insert name here>" yet never say why I should ever trust them, or heck what they even are standing for. Gives me a good reason to vote for them if all I know is they just point the finger at everyone else :disgust:

personally, i watch all these commercials and get completely confused about WHO the commercial is really for. often times i come away only remembering the "bad" candidate.

and if *I* get confused by these things, i can only imagine my parents watching and trying to figure it out
