Ok just bought a nice shiney new full tower case, arrived today so simple i though put my computer in the new casse, piece of pi** easy. But no nothing with computers could ever be that simple :(
Took me about an hour to change it all over no real problems except cables not reaching etc. Then went to power it on, but no it wouldn't work. It looked like a problem i have had in the past that when i remove the power cable it usally takes about 3 attempts to post. But no about 40 attempts latter i am writting this :(
What happens is the fans spin hard drives light up but no display and no reasureing beep of any description. Eventually after systematically removing every bit of kit i decided that i must be shorting out and so took it out of my case and tried it on an anti-statice bag, but still no joy. I have tried with HDD and without. With Differerent PSU's. With Different Graphics cards. Have re-set the bios. Have tried just about everything i can think of and still not even a bios beep, the fans are on but nobodys at home :(
Any idea's? Please help this is my main seti cruncher
I have a abit kt7a (Via kt133 chipset), Duron 800, Crutial ram (192mb in total have tried both dims separatly), Voodoo3 graphics card, have also tried some trident thingy.

I know i should post somwhere else but i neva fair out of DC and u guys are usally really good at helping

So please help me!!!

1st) is the cpu overclocked?
2nd) have you tried a different cpu (if you have one)
3rd) does the heatsink on the cpu get warm after sitting on for a while (getting power)
4th) put a nic into one of the slots and see if it's light comes on(may light/may not depending on NIC/bios settings) (the pci/isa is getting power)
5th) try older video cards to see if a display will come on
6th) try different pc speaker

Not having any beeps is pretty bad. Does it beep at all if you take out the memory altogether? Have you tried another cpu? That's about all I can think of.

Will ask confused tomorow to try 1 of his CPU's. Have tired earlier graphics cards with no luck. I just don't get y it used to do it but not now. I don't have a NIC. HDD light comes on though and appears to work up until the point where it should beep then just goes idle. It was OC'ed but obviously not when i had the problem when i first built the computer. What do u recon it could be? Chip or Mobo?

Did you unlock the cpu? I was having a similar problem and it turned out that the pencil wore out.
