I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to attach a new aluminum dryer vent to my dryer and vent hold in the ceiling (apartment). The damn thing won't stay attached. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Quickly, head to Home Depot. They sell a simple white device made out of plastic which you can use to extend the 1" of exposed vent at the back of your dryer.
The aluminum flexi-pipe then connects to the plastic device. Also, it comes with a small amount of weatherstripping to make the fitting leak-proof. The cost was
only $4.00, I believe.

Trust me, it will save you one big headache!

That did the trick. I just jammed the flexible tube into the connector and taped it in there. Thanks!

Glad it worked out. HD also sells a "Kit" with about 8' of flexy aluminum tubing and one of those attachments. Most of this would not be an issue at all if the manufacturers would just give about 2" more on the vent that leaves the dryer.

Ornery's advice was also great. But, the last dryer I looked at, the area was so tight to work on, sheet metal screws could not have been utilized because of the limited metal area.

I should also point out that the plastic device is constructed in such a way that it prevents one from smashing the dryer vent hose if they push the dryer too close to the back wall.
