So I ordered some piston rings for my girl's moped on June 30th and they mailed them out July 1st priority mail. My apartment buildings office was closed on July 3rd, but the USPS tracking number says that it was delivered that day. How was it delivered if NO ONE WAS THERE TO PICK IT UP.

What do I do?

---
It turns out the apartment complex had the package sitting out in a mail carton and never notified me of it's arrival.

THANK GOD.

Go to your local PO and see if they are there. It is possible the status didn't change if the postman brought them back to the PO. Otherwise, if they were left, someone may have lifted them and you're SOL.

Call the post office and get them to look.

I've recently had two packages I shipped via USPS lost/stolen (fortunately I got the insurance) it wouldn't surprise me if the same happened to you.

Well, I called the office at my apartment, they said they didn't have it and it wasn't in their log book. Also called the post office, they didn't have it, and that they would have delivered it on July 6th.

GOD DAMN.

They should be at the post office since no one was there to get the package. At least that's what always happens to me while I am working.

Sorry, didn't see you updated the threat... Report them stolen

Is it actually possible that it is sitting in the PO? The lady said it would have went back on the truck for July 6th delivery.

Could be in a truck, sitting on a back shelf at the PO and/or sent back to the shipper.

First thing is to take the tracking info to the PO and let them know in person that the item was not delivered. Ussualy when something is dropped at a complex, it gets logged in by the PO person and the complex.

The PO will have to do some looking and/or contact the driver.

I can't imagine how difficult it will be coaxing them into looking for this stupid little envelope with piston rings in it. GOOD GOD. I'm sure they'll just be dying to help me, too...

Know what the best thing about the USPS is? Their tracking service. I love how I always get my package BEFORE their tracking service even has any info. Fuckstick of an organization.

USPS doesn't send stuff back to the sender immediately. If nobody's home, they will leave you a pickup notice in your mailbox so you can go over to the post office and pick it up the next day. They usually hold the package in the post office for a week. I would wait another day then call your local post office and run the confirmation by them and see if it's in their storage.

Well, I think I'm fucking fucked.

I e-mailed the dude I bought the rings from, he said he called his PO and they told him I had to file the claim. So, I call my PO and they said if it didn't have insurance I can't file a claim. He said he went and checked in the back to see if it was anywhere and he said he didn't have it. I have no idea if the guy had insurance on it, so I e-mailed him and waiting on that. At least he's good about e-mailing back within minutes.

I guess I'm out 25 fucking dollars. Man this really makes my blood boil, getting hassled around like this.

I almost shat a brick earlier this year when my tracking service actually updated before the package arrived. I thought I'd fallen into bizarro world or something.

How did you pay for the items?

If you have not received it, it is the seller's responsibility to get it to you or refund the payment.

You've had it since 1977 without piston rings? I bet the pedals are worn out!

It's a confirmation service, not tracking.
