Better yet, why can't Canada allow concealed carry? It would do a world of benefit around here.
It wouldn't benefit at all. The drugged-up criminals won't know you have a gun and thus will treat you the same (remember they are drugged up and thus don't have the mental powers to predict that you might have a concealed weapon due to legislative action.)
Instead, carry one visibly wherever you go. You'll be treated very well.
I dunno if you're joking, so I'll assume you're not.
Concealed carry is ALWAYS superior to open carry. CC makes society safer because criminals now have no idea who is armed, and who is not. This protects the armed as well as the unarmed. CC also stops the mindless panic people have nowadays when they see a gun.
Why not both (CC and open carry)? Let people get used to seeing guns, don't like them, don't carry.
Open carry would go a lot further to prevent crime IMO. If you don't see the gun, they might not be carrying. After all, it's not like they are going to think *hey, CC is legal, I'd better not rob anyone.* I'll be more like *I'm a drug crazed idiot who needs some cash quick, who am I going to rob, the guy w/o a gun, or granny packing heat over there?*
