I know what you mean...I had the same problem where I'm at now. I'm living downtown and my apartment doesn't have it's own parking so I'm paying $150/month for a spot near my apartment. It's a lot that the public has access to, and people are parking there all the time without the hang tag. The attendant isn't there on weekends and they leave after 6pm, meaning all the people coming out downtown to party on Fridays and weekends take up all the spots which pisses me off since I'm shelling out that much money every month.

Anyways, what I've done a few times (to the repeat offenders - it's usually certain people who are always parking there that aren't supposed to) is stick a bottle underneath their tires (there's usually a few bottle somewhere around the parking lot since the occasional drunk or homeless guy hangs out in the parking lot). I'm sure it scares the sh!t outta them when they back out over the bottle...otherwise, when I'm not feeling so mean, I just have them towed...

Anyways, damn parking company decided instead of taking care of the problem, they would lease the entire lot out to the adjacent hotel for their valet parking instead....so now I have to walk 2 blocks to get to my apartment...sucks when I'm carrying groceries... 🙁

man, you're all so mean. just have it towed and move on.

one tow and they'll never park there again. if you vandalize it, they might not even connect the vandalism to their illegal parking.

1. Attach grenade securely to under carriage.
2. Attach fishing line to grenade pin, the other end to an axle (the spining part), make sure you leave enough slack.
3. Sit back.... way back, relax and enjoy the show.

Shoe polish in the windshields... FOR SALE $1000 MUST GO.
The polish should be nice and encrusted on the glass... make sure it's not on glass that he/she can get with wiper fluid. While they're distracted by that... do something else to the car more sutble... like the balloon in their wheel well or bottle next to their tire... BOOM, big sound...

How about calling your building management and leaving a complaint with them?

Technically, if it's an apartment, it's THEIR property and they are the only ones who can legally enforce the rules.

It would suck some seriousl balls to have to pay the guy's towing fees because you didn't go through the proper measures.

Take some time, find out who the car belongs to, which apartment the owner is going to and tell everything to the management. Tell them that you aren't able to park in YOUR lot because some STRANGER is stealing your space. If they haven't taken care of it in a week, tell them it's still happening and inform them that if they don't do something you are going to call someone and have it towed.

Don't waste the cops time. They can't ticket someone on private property without the property owner's complaining.

That's the way I see it. I don't think you can have cars towed from someone else's property. I certainly could be wrong, but it makes sense. I would complain to the management and see what they do.

Every apt complex I've lived at has had the rule that parking is for residents only, AND guests of residents. If someone is visiting Joe on the 3rd floor from Florida, he gets to park in the parking lot, not elsewhere.

Suppose this guys girlfriend lives in your building, and he visits her on the weekends. You can't get pissed over him parking there. I've been in similar circumstances, and you just have to suck it up. Unless for some whacked out reason your super says that residents and only residents can park there, no matter the circumstance, but that makes it a bitch for when you have friends come over.

Plus, some people lose their stickers/ dont want to stick them on the car. How do you know for sure this guy isnt a valid apartment dweller 🙂

Either way, at most tow it, don't fvck up his ride because your childish and overreacting.
