God damn is there ANY rhyme or reason to the results returned by search!?

I know this is OLD but it's REALLY is annoying when you want to find something! 1/2 the time the results don't seem to have anything to do with what you type. Sometimes I type something in and find nothing only to find a post almost word for word identical to what I typed on the first few pages! Then there's the brilliant idea of sorting the results by ascending and descending topic rating WOW hot damn is that useful! It's not like anyone would ever want to sort messages by DATE for example, what a strange fuck I would be to want that! I vote we replace Google's page rank with the engine we have here. My guess is they have a highly trained monkey behind the scenes back there who throws his feces at a huge screen showing all the unarchived posts.

One of the reasons we are moving to vBulleshit. That, and money. And the database. And the plug-ins. And the customization.

My take on searching:

Always use advanced search

Use the "All of these words" field

Select the forum category you want

Select "Order by topics rating - Descending" (I think this is actually going by date and not by rating)

That usually works for me, provided I remember a word that was in the title of the thread.

I wish the "archived threads" button was still there though.

Fusetalk search blows. Bigtime. This feature is to cut down on reposts...errr...at least people calling repost. If you can't find it in search, then its not a repost. Yay.
