Obviously you get what you pay for, but these things suck. I just paid $100 for a pair of Altec Lansing ATP3. They almost sound like they're broken (I havent ruled that out), they dont really sound like they did at the store. I think I'll take them back and get a pair of bookshelf speakers and hook em up to my amp.

BTW... I have Klipsch 5.1s and ATP3s in another room... :D

1) The ATP3s do suck ass, get yourself some Klipsch or Logitech's
2) Why on earth would you buy retail if you heard them in the store? Come on, you know you can get a better deal online.
3) HT system + computer = the best way to go :D

1. I don't want to spend more then $100. (BTW this is CDN, so think $65 USD)
2. Canadians can't ever get any good online deals.
3. I agree, but it is a bit of a pain carrying around a big amp and speakers. These are just supposed to be something to get me by while I spend christmas at my parents house. (I don't have speakers otherwise)

I have some Altec Lansing AC48s speakers from many years ago and they are rocking just as strong as then. These speakers have a great amount of bass and are clear all the way up.

If you paid $100 ($65US) - you paid too much. I love my ATP3's, and must have paid $50 US shipped from dell a few months back.

One word - Z560s. I know you could get them for under $100 a month ago @ Amazon. As for me, I got mine from Staples (special order from Ingram Micro) for $120 after coupon/pricematch in September 2002.

Try buying an Amp+speakers that are not "computer speakers" for the same price, they'll suck just as bad if not worse.

I've got a set of Philips speakers - 4 satellites and a subwoofer; think it was maybe $40 after rebates (Christmas present last year I believe it was, maybe the year before). Better sound than I was used to; of course, I've not ever heard the Logitech or Klipsh speakers for comparison.
