IT WORKS! Thank you to all who made suggestions. Everything seems to be running fabulously. My very first build, an expensive one, and had I not come acrost this site a while ago I'd have overpaid big time for a store build. Thanks to you all I was able to build and troubleshoot something I always felt was out of my reach as a typical blue collar knuckle dragger. I wish I hadn't put it off for so long, but there's very little left for me to do at the ripe old age of 26. J/k. I think what I'm feeling is equatable to watching my first child being born.

So a big pat on the back for everyone, you've helped a noob achieve something he never thought he could. Overclocking? Maybe in a few days or so. I've got some stress testing to do. And I've got to figure out how to tell this sidebar to GTFO.

God bless you all, and to all a Merry Christmas.

'grats 🙂

I'm waiting for my own build, I only have one missing piece, and it's the CPU, whichever comes first will be put in my Mobo, either the E8400 or the Q9300. I feel your joy, I can hardly and barely retain myself to burst into impulsive desires to just go out tomorrow and go buy some currently available Core 2's, but I know I'd regret it.

Patience I tell myself ... patience, good things come to those who have patience.

*puts himself in stasis until late January*

grats dude! i havent upgraded for like 2 and half years now (got an ATI X800XL with a A64 3200 venice)...probably upgrade graphix beginning next year...but for now enjoy the heck out of that system!

It gets addicting after awhile. You find a good deal on one part, and soon, before you know it, you're collecting more parts for yet another build. I just built two rigs recently here for gaming (E2140 @ 3.28Ghz, Radeon X1950 Pro), and I'm already thinking about another build. I also already have two A64 rigs (4000+ @ 2.8Ghz, 3800+ @ 2.4Ghz), and parts for another A64 Opteron 165 rig (2.7Ghz easy). Too many PCs already. I need to get some of those A64s running DC projects.

It was defenetely not as hard as I thought. It was defenetely woth the wait too though. I delayed for the 8800gt. Then I delayed again to see if Phenom was going to be any good. Then I delayed again to see what the specs were going to be for the new G92 GTS. Then I almost delayed again for the release of the 780i chipset. But if I can't get it done with one card, it ain't gettin' done. So it's worth toughing out the wait Zenoth. And I'm doing so, here at work on break, wanting nothing more than to go home and bask in the glow of my widescreen lcd. *sigh*. Only got a few more hours to go, this must be how my dog feels when I'm gone.

LOL... congrats! Great choice in parts. Very nice PSU, + awesome board.

@ Expensive, you've only tipped into the high end gear my friend. You can quickly see how much more nicer/expensiver stuff there is and get awefully tempted to spend a bit more on your next future build.

I feel that old fairly often, at least around here.🙂 I think you and I are the seniors, at least in the CPU forum.

Can't wait for my MSI 8800GT to get here, screw whichever manufacturer makes it.

only until something breaks.

Then you learn, DOE! i should of paid the extra 20 dollars to go with company xxx, instead.

for me xxx = evga for gfx cards. THE BEST CSR i ever had to deal with.
