God bless extended warranties!

My 80GB hard drive took a crap on me yesterday so I carted it back to compusa. Got $140 back in store credit. They had Seagate 200gb harddrives on sale, so I paid

New drive + new warranty $198
Minus store credit - 140
_______
$58 dollars...

And there is a 70 rebate on the hard drive, so I'm actually getting paid $12 to get a 200gb HD 😀

Not bad. I do this with my cell phone. I've had 5 cell phones in the span of a couple years. Last phone that "broke", I got paid $40 after a rebate to get it.

I do that with everything I buy now a days... I usually get everything from Best Buy. I have had the "same purchase" keyboard for 2 years now. I returted it twice, so I am on my third one. Whenever it flakes out in the least, I return it for a brand spankin new one.

I don't get why everyone whines about these extanded warranties... I love them.

Because if you want it you'll get it. Maybe the cashier mentions it to you one time. But a lot of people selling extended warranties will push and push until you take it, which pisses me off to no end

Wrong. If you buy the 4 year replacement plan one, after 3 years or so, you accidently break your item, then get the store credit to buy a new one... It's like getting two for the price of one.

I guess if you always accidentally break your items just before the extended warranty runs out, it's a good deal.

Personally, I take care of my items, and my credit card doubles the manufacturer's warranty, so that makes the extended warranty worth even less.
