God Awful modem performance with win2k...need help

Before the switch to win2k, my modem worked great with win98. Good solid connection, never had a download stop prematurely. Now with win2k, downloads are stopping midway, and I am getting maybe at most 2k/sec when before I was getting +4k/sec. I'm not getting disconnected from my isp, just unreliable connections. I'm using an internal Zoom 56k pci faxmodem and the newest driver off of the Zoom site. The new driver help a little and SP2 helped a bit as well. Can I fix this damn thing?

i always have better luck with external modems

I always use a cheap lucent modem since most have drivers for linux. Wish I knew of an answer for you, but I am unfamiliar with that modem.
