It's a fermented mix of peppers, glutinous rice, and bean paste.
Interestingly enough, I just saw a Chinese food show a couple days ago where they showcased this and showed how it was made. Never tried this myself. The whole fermented nature of it will make it hit or miss with a lot of folks.
Probably the most popular and well known kids snack/street food is tteokbokki. It's made with soft rice cakes, thin fish cakes, cabbage, and gochujang sauce. Really simple to make but can be quite spicy.
