How is a game penalty given for something non-game related?

So basically, fans can alter the outcome of the game with some strategy.

WTF that ref is a idiot. What was the goalie expected to do? get a beatdown and not defend himself?

Some people really are that retarded. They expect you to run away at all cost. Never stand your ground, never take the attack of opportunity even though it means rolling 20s every time.

Once he knocked the guy down he was no longer a threat. Kicking him on the ground is just assault.

The attacker wasn't unconscious, he was just on the ground. He easily could have gotten back up and renewed the attack.

Oh sure, from his stance of dominance as he got up.... right. He could have fought through the CLOUD of the goalie's team mates, the security guards who were running out, AND the refs to deal that goalie a mortal blow.

The "CLOUD of the goalie's team mates, the security guards who were running out, AND the refs" were not there yet when the goalie kicked him. One person was almost there, the rest weren't. The guy could have gotten up, pulled a weapon, etc.

Lurk more.

"Putting the boot in" after somebody is down is bad form anywhere.

Assuming that someone who is crazy enough to run out onto the field and attempt to kick you isn't going to try anything else is just stupid.

no it is not. IF someone jumps you then the only thing you have to do is be the one to walk away unhurt and alive. if that means kicking the idiot in the head or nuts that's fine with me.

he did the right thing. he kept the guy on the defensive until his friends, ref, security was there.

Keep reaching there. Guy is down, the 'victim' could simply move away much faster than the 'assailant' on the ground can. He put the boot in, looked bad, ref had to respond. Maybe he was a little color blind in his card choices, but the goalie competently kicking the crap out of some nutter looks bad.

That one happened a few months ago. Even after the attacker gets thrown down at 0:13, he still tries to get back up at 0:15. Evidently you think the players should have just walked away and let him get up to try to attack someone else? You are vastly underestimating how crazy some people are.
