This is a relatively new mmorpg game that is based on american football in a fantasy football type setting. But instead of picking actual NFL players and seeing how they perform in a given season, you get to "build" a player of a position you choose and develop him how you would like. Your player then joins a team and as a team you try and win your division and make the playoffs. This is where it is a mmorpg game. Each team even has it's own private forum so you can get to know your teammates if you'd like.

The best thing is it's 100% free to play, but you can purchase "flex points" that can be used to make more players or improve the player(s) you already have. You also are awarded flex points for everyone who signs up using your referral link. I'm not going to post my link here becasue I don't want this to look like I'm spamming for referrals. I just really like the game and thought I would let others know about it that have not yet heard of it.

The game is actually very involved and you can even own a team and you get to sign players, make game strategies, set ticket prices, and much more. This can take quite alot of time if you are an involved owner however, so I'm just sticking to building a couple of players.

Please be careful, because this game can becoe very addicting quickly. :)

I created a defensive end and joined a CPU team. .. I guess thats ok. heh. I made a custom equipment called the Super Cup... it gives me +2 to stamina.

You don't get to make teams, you have to buy one for 1000 flex points. They add more teams each season, but there is a waiting list for owning a team.

Building a quality player actually requires some long term planning. First decide on the position, and then what type of player at that position, and then plan our build accordingly. For example, if you make a LB, decide if you prefer an inside or outside LB and do you want him to be a run stopping or pass defending LB. Each will require a slightly different build structure to become a dominant player.

There are several guides out written by people playing the game for a little while that will defintiely help out any new player.

I've been playing for a while. I've got a level 21 DE, and I'm just now starting to get him built properly. I made some mistakes early on with the way I allocated my points.

There are a lot of quirks to Goal Line Blitz. It's a game with its own set of strategy, it doesn't simulate football all to well at this point. (Keep in mind that it's a Beta game, and I think it'll do a better job as a football sim as they implement more features.) It's still fun though, and I imagine I'll be playing for a while.

Edit: By the way, for those of you interested in this sort of thing, there's another beta football sim at www.fantasyfranchisefootball.com. This one's a little bit different - you own the team and control stadium pricing/roster moves/depth charts but the players are all CPU.
