Hola,
my personal goal is to get my 64 winnie 3000+ up to 2.6GHz if possible. My current OC is in my sig, and its rock solid. memtest passed at 4000%, prime95 for 8hrs. the geil ram i have is a great buy, btw. pretty cheap, performs like a champ :D.
ive tried increasing the vcore more (im at +5% now, but ive tried up to 1.62v and all that did was heat up my proc enough to make me turn it back down), but with little success. to reach 2.43GHz, i am at 270htt 3x multi. would i need to increase my chipset voltage maybe to get above 270htt? my rig wouldnt pass prime95 at 2.5GHz either.
im starting to think my chip isnt lucky, but if i still have a chance of wringing more speed out of it i want to try.
thanks a ton,
nick

ps im on stock cooling with some AS5, and my temps are fine right now. im pretty sure it can handle 2.6GHz, but the fan will diffenately speed up some.

There are probably a few tricks you could try to boost your speed up, but I'll leave that to those that actually own an A64 + MSI setup. The only thing I could tell you is that if you have some spare cash, it certainly wouldn't hurt to get a nice aftermarket HSF, even if your temps are currently fine on the stock HSF. Make sure your case is getting good ventilation. Ventilation is very key. Having a side panel fan blowing in cool air onto your processor is always a good thing. If you don't have that, try taking your side panel off all-together, just to see if it makes a difference. Sorry that I'm only rambling on about cooling, but it is all I can offer you :)

ive thought about getting a new HSF for my bday comming up, but they are fairly expensive. im not sure if i want to drop 30+ bucks, and not get any more speed out of my proc. i tend to lean more twards quiteness then coolness also, but ovbiously i wouldnt let anything overheat. what did you mean by " those that actually own an A64 + MSI setup"? i own both.
i have 2 intake fans (on the PSU's fan only connectors, this lowers/raises the RPM's according to temps), and 2 outtake fans that have thermal diodes also. then my psu has 2 fans, and then we have my GPU fan and CPU fan. i actually have a side panel fan, but i dont hook it up because i have no air filter for it and i dont want to dust up my nice new case. its lower down anyway, its ment to cool PCI/AGP cards.
anyway, im pretty sure ive just maxed out my processors capibilities. any suggestions would be welcome though.
thanks,
nick

I have no good ideas sadly, but i do want to mention that you have a great OC there, even if you're not hitting 2.6 GHz.

You guys & your Winnies are making me jealous :p

What I meant by "those that actually have an A64 + MSI" is that I'll leave the tweaking suggestions up to A64/MSI users. They can help you better than I can.
