the propositions are the important part on this ballot.
those were more important to me than the candidates.

I'm sorry but my vote does NOT make a difference in the slightest. Not even the smallest bit. There would be NO change in what would happen politically if I did so it's not worth my time.

next thing you're going to tell me is that my vote makes a difference or that elections/propositions can win/lose by 1 vote....yeah right

No, don't give me that. I am only 1 vote. I am NOT 2 million votes. If I vote, it will not make the slightest difference.

This has nothing to do with anyone else.

I voted today. Even if you know absolutely jack about the candidates and dont care about the issues, you should go in, vote for one of the candidates that is running unopposed, and thus increase the stats for young people's voting rates. Because otherwise the old people are going to screw you even harder if youth voting rates stay in the gutter.

I used to think like you 4 years back when I was 18. I told myself yeah statistically one vote wont count. blah blah...
Im 22 now and am registered and voted today. I do not know how you can still say that a vote doesnt count. Hello! Florida?!
Al Gore?? How he got ripped!? He got screwed out of his votes. He lost by what "3000" votes in Florida. Thats pretty damn close if you ask me. And its not only about getting your 1 vote in there...its about speech and the right to have a choice.
I dont know what to tell you...maybe one day you and other youths, (i assume u are under 30) will hopefully start voting. Until that day guess what? All those old men and women will their vintage clothes and vintage values to match will be the ones deciding for you.

I too have the mentality that my vote wont make a difference. I realize a lot of others do too, and if everyone changed their mentality, that's a lot of votes. Well hopefully everyone else does change their mentality cuz I'm not changing mine. I simply don't care enough to spend whatever short amount of time it takes to vote.

When our generation really starts getting screwed, then people will eventually start to vote, but even then, my 1 vote wont make a difference. I know I have the right to have a choice, and by choosing not to vote i'm exercising that right.

Besides paying taxes, our country really doesn't demand too much. Don't you think you could go and vote? I mean, it doesn't take that long and it's really something you should do, if nothing else to show your appreciation for being ABLE to choose a leader.

And you then help convince others to embrace apathy, and voting of under-30 citizens stays in the gutter, and government continues to ignore you and pander to the elderly.

-or-

You vote, you convince others to vote, and together you make a difference.

Like another person in this thread said...what if 6,000 more people who thought the way MAME does had actually gone out and voted during the 2000 election in Florida?

I guess you're supposed to use peer presure. Let your friends know that voting makes you cool. Tell them how cool you are because you voted, and that they can be as cool as you if they vote too.
