Are there any studies that show this to be true?

There's literally thousands of stories of people lives that have turned around after finding religion, but to answer your stupid question, no, there's no "studies" of these brand new program that hasn't started yet.

I know literally some stories about hooligans taking acid for the first time and becoming peaceful hippies and going on to have a good life. :colbert:

Let's see, as a society, would you want to put losers committing minor crimes in prison with harden criminals and gangsters so the guy can learn how to commit more crime, or you put the guy in church with hopefully some positive influence, oh and by the way, a bit cheaper on tax payer too.

I'd say that's something worth experimenting. But hey, there will always be bunch of anti-religious people who is gonna jump out and curse the idea just because religion is involved.

So what they're agreeing on is that going to church is an equal punishment to sitting in jail.

Don't a lot of criminals find religion in prison?

Seems there should be a third option in some kind of community event that's not religious.
