So, assuming they're about the same. ($300) Which should I do? (My health insurance does not cover stuff for optical stuff at all) I'm thinking about getting my prescription updated and getting contacts(I've used them before a few years ago, but I stopped because it was a PIA, but I am going to try them again). I think even though I won't have as good of vision as I could have with glasses I won't notice because the prescription will be updated and thus improved. ;) :hmm: :awe: Thus I won't see a real difference at all between my current glasses and contacts! YAY!

Any advice on WHERE to buy contacts and WHICH? I don't have any special eye conditions. It's just nearsightedness and that's it.

OR.... Upgrade the computer. I have two 4850s in there and they kinda make a lot of heat.. They also don't overclock because it's so cramped in there and there isn't good enough ventilation for them. I'm thinking of selling them for cheap and then getting a new card... or getting a C2Q 9550 or something because Quadcore would be awesome...

What to do?

BLAST... I can't add a poll after I've made a topic? What bullshit. That needs to be fixed.

I think a gaming pc should be the last of your worries. Sell everything and buy a used pentium 4 dell for $100 on craigslist.

Getting contacts was probably one of the best things I've ever done. I love them, and couldn't imagine living with glasses.

If you're feeling strapped for cash - spend the money on being able to see and scrap the contacts. Contacts will only be a recurring cost, while glasses tend to be more like a one time thing. You can always get a better looking pair of frames.

I'll regret getting whatever frames I end up getting. I may as well get contacts. My current frames suck too. I look like some kind of Russian scientist with them. (Not a good thing)

I think you missed something.

OP, PM me if you're really interested in selling one of those 4850's

Where did you get $300 from and why are you in such a hurry to squander it?

Get a cheap eye exam, cheap frames, and save the rest for books or gas or whatever will help you move forward.

I already have money to pay for my college textbooks, gas, car insurance, etc.

And, my family might pay for some of the eye exam because they were going to originally anyway. So, I am going to go get an eye exam ASAP and then get contacts.

ADVICE FOR WHAT CONTACTS TO GET? I'm looking for something that has SOME flexibility in wearing. I'm sorta-alright with the idea of taking them out every night, but would like the option of having them in overnight if possible...

Bad contacts will cause arcing and can even cause a fire.
Imagine a fire in a froot loop factory! :p

Contacts suck. If you need new glasses get them. If not, get a new computer.

Edit:

In recent years, there has been an increase in corneal ulcers among people who wear contact lenses, especially the extended-wear type. Poorly fitted contact lenses can also produce corneal ulcers.
