I'm really not a big fan of the Blazers. I'm a fan of Pippen...watched him during his career at Chicago, but I do question his admittance into the The 50 Greatest NBA Players of all Time club.

I guess I'm just rooting against LA. I don't really know why. I used to blame my dislike on them on the fact that they're a bunch of whiners...then I realized all NBA players are whiners and I can't hold that against them (except Fox, that asshole takes whining to a new level). Also, I sometimes forget that Bryant is little more than a kid and I shouldn't expect him to be as mature as some of the other NBA players. I remember after the 3rd(I think) game that Portland played LA during the reg season, they interviewed Bryant after the game. (If you remember, Shaq didn't play that game and Portland won) Bryant said something along the lines of "I don't know why they're celebrating so hard. It's just one game. If they want to act like it means anything, let 'em." And then the next time they play, LA wins and guess who leads in the celebration?

I dunno, maybe I'm just suffering from "root for the underdog" sydrome. :p Maybe that's why I hope LA loses everytime I see them play.

Why do you question it? He's not one of those morons "yeah, yo, check me yo. I got game, yo." He's actually intelligent and flaunts it. And he IS that good. :) Anyway, I'm totally with you on the anti-Lakers thing. Oh, and Rick Fox isn't a real player. He may be able to put a ball through the hoop, but no self-respecting player plays that low.

Let's here it for the Lakers losing! Here here!

...oh yeah, and Portland cuz they're my hometown. ;)

You are rooting for the Blazers are you're calling the Lakers whiners? The Blazers are the biggest group of whiners ever assembled in the NBA. Are you sure you didn't just misspell winners? The Blazers have two of the top 3 players in the league for receiving technical fouls (Wallace and Wells), which they got for bitching and moaning at every single call. In the last regular season game the Blazers played against the Lakers, Scottie Pippen was ejected for kicking the basketball into the crowd because he was pissed at a call, can't say I've seen a Laker kicked out for that.

Nope, me neither. I have, however, seen a Laker kicked out for puching someone who had his back turned towards him. (Shaq vs Miller) :p

Oh, and Fox got T'd up twice after that. ;)

As far as I can see the Blazers are one of the biggest pack of jerks ever assembled in professional sports, rivalling even the mid-90's Dallas Cowboys. While I am generally one to root for the underdog, I can't see pulling for those creeps.

Lakers = Total NBA Ownage. ;)

Prediction: Lakers go 15-0 during the playoffs. They went 15-1 last year (the one loss coming off a lucky Iverson 3-point shot in overtime in Game 1 of the finals at Staples) and they're going to do it this year.

Shaq will dominate as usual. Kobe will penetrate and make plays. Fisher and Horry will hit their share of crucial jumpers. Fox and George will augment Shaq well, with Richmond and Hunter rounding out the power.

Thing is, Portland's got a great lineup, but they absolutely don't mesh well together. Looking at the depth of both the Lakers and Blazers, you gotta give credit to the Lakers for meshing well.

Those two guys tick me off more often than Shaq and Bryant do. Especially Fisher. Just when the other team is mounting a comeback...boom...Fisher buries a 3. :(

Huh? Those aren't even the same things. Shaq was ejected for fighting after a guy hit him with a really hard flagrant foul, both Miller and Oakley slapped him right across the top of the head. Shaq got pissed, and went after the guy. The entire game was very physical, and that was the result of it. It might not have been the best way to handle it, but it certainly wasn't whining, which is what you were talking about. Getting pissed about a hard flagrant and getting into a fight is not bitching and whining after every call like the Blazers do. Pippen got ejected for acting like a 5 year old after a call didn't go his way, and taking the ball and kicking it into the crowd.

The Blazers are the biggest group of punks in the NBA, I can't see how anyone could root for them. Ruben Patterson pleaded a modified guilty plea to rape, Shawn Kemp is a coke fiend with tons of illegitimate children, and now Stoudamire is under investigation for drugs. How could the fans cheer for a team, when one of the players (Bonzi Wells), had this to say about the fans earlier in the year:

"We're not going to worry about what the hell (the fans) think...they don't really matter to us."

If I was a Blazer fan, I'd be embarrassed to cheer for that team. Back when they had The Glide, they were a great organization with some real professional players , now they have degraded into a loose assemblage of punks.

Ok dude. I get the feeling you're taking this just a little too personal. ;)

See any similarities in the bolded words?

Read the first sentence in my first post.

Oh, one more thing. Would you agree that every NBA player does his share of whining? Of the fouls that are called, I wonder what the percentage of them don't have the player who was called throw his arms up, give a 'who...me?' expression, or somehow give the impression that he never fouls.

Getting pissed and acting like a 5 year old because the ref called a foul on you, and getting pissed because two guys just maliciously slapped you across the head, are two completely different things.

What would you do if someone try to piggy ride on your back throughout the whole game? Well, I would've knock him the f#ck out!

Yeah, you're right. Oakley should've just let Shaq score.

Once again the whining Blazers rear their ugly heads. 4 technicals and 1 flagrant in the same game, and yet another Blazer kicked out for kicking the ball. Then as if kicking the ball and getting ejected wasn't enough, Dale Davis tries to do his best Rodman impression by taking his jersery off, and running around like a fool. Yea, but it's those Lakers that are the whiners.

Yeah, you're right. Oakley should've just shot Shaq, maybe that would have slowed him down?

It might keep Shaq under 25 but it won't stop him

amen to that...those guys would be winning right now (and would've that year had jordan not been in the league). Drexler, Porter, Ainge, Duck, Cliffy...those were the days...

But regardless of how bad the Blazers might be, I hate LA more than anything...go portland!

Yeah, and did you see Davis give that little halfstep towards the fan that was giving him shiit as he was walking out? Like he was trying to scare the fan or something...
rolleye.gif

4 T's and a flagrant is a lot of points to give up...they'd probably be a better team if they could control their emotions better. They are talented.

I am disappointed that LA won though. I was shaking my head when I saw Bryant throw up a shot. The defender (I forget who) goes up to contest it. The shot bounces off the rim and Shaq immediately grabs the rebound and puts it in. Bryant immediately goes and bitches to first one ref, then the other...thought he was fouled. C'mon Kobe, you guys got the 2 points fer cryin out loud and you're still complaining to the refs?

Don't get too defensive because I called LA a bunch of whiners, I called all NBA players a bunch of whiners. Ok?

Ok everybody, pay up! :p

Great game by both teams...but certainly not the best performance by either. Kudos to LA.
