Their stock is up significantly after findings that the bailout will remove a lot of their debt. I emptied out 1/2 of my savings and bought when it was 1.70. I'm showing 4.30 right now :D

assuming this isn't a joke, at least sell enough to cover your initial investment

Sorry I have to call shens on the $1.70 purchase price. Knowing you bought like $200 of GM stock at around $10/shr or so makes me believe you don't have the balls, money, or luck to buy it at the 52 week low. It was at $1.70 for about a minute on Friday. I very doubt you bought it then.

Heh, the money issue resolved itself last month, so I'm very much back in the swing of things thank you. As I posted many times before, I'm Even Steven- for every bad thing that happens an equally good thing takes it's place.

There's usually about a 10 second delay in prices on Scottrade, so I bought in at 1.72 when I saw it drip on my lunch break, then it went up to 4.01, but i held onto it and it dipped back down in the 2.90's for the last week. Now I'm glad I held onto it.

If it hits $5, I'm selling and waiting for it to dip down again.

4.72 now! :D

shens x2. $1.70 is the exact 52-week low, which for a heavily traded stock is the BID price and he would not have been able to buy at that price.

If you're going to sell at 5, i would just sell at 4.99 (price right now)

edit: hit 5. my guess is OP will get greedy.

That is 3.1 times your investment... I'd at least sell something to recover initial cost.

Do these sites let you set a price point to automatically sell at even if you aren't at your computer?

Yes. Atleast on Scottrade you can set an order to sell/buy any stock, at any particular price, in any particular quantity. However I think there is a limit (or there used to be...I haven't traded in a while) to how long those orders can stay active.

It looks like it's hovering around $5. Good that you sold...considering the past few months it's been around $3-4. A bailout is positive for the short term, but it doesn't mean they'll be making real profits anytime soon.
