If I have system(see below), should I go for WinXP or should I wait for mature drivers and keep WinMe for now? Usage is: Internet, Gen Apps, Gaming.
Thanks for advice.

I hate to be the jerk in the discussion... but why are you asking us this? You are one step ahead of the typical user in that you actually now what hardware is in your box. The next step is to find out if there are drivers available for those parts with XP or if Win2K drivers are compatible. There are thousands of WinXP posts to look through, both here on Anand as well as on Deja News

If you want someone to actually offer you some advice, tell us what you will be using the PC for. In my experience ME only works well with hardware that has ME specific drivers written for it.

There are about 10 of these "should I go to WinXP" threads in this forum a week, it's getting rather tiring.

You don't mention your memory situation either.

Why? I don't see any problem with SB Live. I don't think he will see one also. If you had Win 2000 and wanted to upgraded to Win XP then I would probably say up to you but from Win ME to Win XP is definetely. You will see better performance.

My system is way slower that you and have XP installed on it. It never crash since the first time I installed it.

One more thing that I forgot is once you install XP, go to Windows Update. There's an update for Sound Blaster.

So go ahead and install XP. You won't regret it at all.

I haven't had any trouble with my SB live. Of course, I haven't done anything stupid by trying to load anything except the default drivers included with XP. I have used this SB Live in both an Intel BX and AMD 761/Via 686 mainboard, and XP has worked perfect.

Xp, no doubt,

EVEN... IF.. and i mean IF XP sucked... it could never possible suck as bad as Windows Me.. .it will be a blessing from god once you get to Windows Xp.. and experience some true stability! 😛 Good lUck
