On a serious note, what's going to keep your average everyday website from going under? How much lower will banner ad revenue drop?
What if *GASP* AnandTech were to go down!!?!!?
What's in it for some companies to keep a website running? I wonder out of the millions of sites out there that don't sell anything, how many are covering costs? How long before we lose something we'll all truly miss.
I wish I could go back in time about 3 years so I could come up with some rediculous plan for a website and pitch it to some ignorant multi-millionaire that would give me millions to sink into my site that would be doomed to fail.
Websites will survive. Right now the market is just eliminating the weak sites. The Internet and related stock boom was inflated, and now you are seeing adjustments. Do you honestly think there are enough ad revenues to support a billion web sites?
