anyone have source code for a hostcache?

i'm creating a private network and am trying to set up a box as a dedicated hostcache. So far i've been coding it in java, and can handshake with a client. When a client connects, it pings me. I have yet to figure out how to correctly pong, or ping the client back to get its pong.
