Everyone I've ever talked to, incl. big fans, that saw them live in the 80's and 90's said they sounded really bad live, especially Axl's voice. Now that only the worst sounding part left of the orig. GnR is left, I decided to pass on tix when they were announced here (Nash.). I'd imaging a GnR cover band would sound more like classic GnR (I've seen one).
If I could find a cheap ticket, I might go though, for the hell of it.

Edit: fixed typo

Axl, is as ugly as he's ever been.

Sounds about like he always did. Just depends on whether you catch him on a "good voice"night or not.

I saw the REAL GnR twice...including a 3hr, 45min marathon in Greensboro, NC...the longest concert Guns ever played. It was awesome.
And ironically, Skid Row opened that night.

I give Axl no more than 10 shows, then mental breakdown or ego trip walkoff.. tour will be cancelled.

He completed the entire European tour with no such events. Even at Download festival and the whole fiasco that occured there.

He did keep an English crowd waiting a long time because he threw a fit and refused to go on before he was served some sort of fancy dinner.

I have some old, old boots where Axl sounds awesome. But after they got popular, no...his voice was gone by then.
He only sounds good at certain times now.

Oddly, he usually can hit the higher notes and sound pretty clear. as on the live album from the 90's, but his mid-range voice is never good.
Best example is Sweet Child....I have yet to ever hear him sing that anywhere near like the recorded version. The one on the live album he sounds like a frog croaking.

They sucked even when they started. I can't see how an album from GNR in the year 2006 could possibly be listenable at all.

GNR sucked when they started?! Wow.

Appetite for Destruction was one of the greatest hard rock albums of all time, and certainly turned the music industry around that had been relying on the hair bands for too long.
