Yeuch I bought two jugs of that stuff, one vanilla and one chocolate. I have tried the vanilla and am currently afraid of the chocolate. I'll have to return the chocolate one because I am going to have problems finishing this 8 lb jug of almost vanilla tasting powder. Now if you are wondering why I bought the behemoth, I actually felt confident at the store and figured that I might as well go all or nothing. Oh how my taste buds hate me!

For those of you interested, I dumped one cup of it into a glass of milk and stirred it all in. The powder itself smells like vanilla at first and doesn't seem so bad but once you really take in the smell, ugghhh. The taste is just like that as well, doesn't seem that bad but then it hits you. Especially the whole bunch of little lumps of powder on the bottom of the cup. Oh man, I have take at least two cups a day of this stuff. I suppose I can get used to it but it just tastes so wierd/bad. My stomach has been producing quite a bit of gas however.

I LOVE REGULAR FOOD!

I prefer mixing that kind of stuff with water. It's easier to just chug it down. Myoplex is pretty good tasting though. But the better it tastes, the less actual "product" you're getting. Meaning you're getting more flavor enhancement and less protein, etc.

The chocolate isn't that bad. You can add chocolate syrup to it if you need to. I did that at first but after a while got used to the taste so I don't need to anymore. You might want to do that and try mixing in some of the vanilla into the chocolate so you can finish both off. And if you stir it very, very well the lumps will go away.

Try using a blender.

That's good advice. You'll gain more weight changing your eating habits than using the weight gainer. Good food that packs on weight is far easier to stomach(pun intended) than those crappy weight gainer shakes. I started out lifting weight/taking gainer shakes and put on almost NO weight. Switched to aerobic exercise (running and biking) with a moderate lifting regiment and conscious attempt to eat more/better, and put on 10 pounds in less than a month.

Tips for using a weightgainer/protein drink.

Use a blender.
If you dont use a blender, add the powder to an empty glass, and add just a little liquid. Stir with a FORK, add a little more liquid. When it gets real smooth start adding the rest of the liquid.

Get the liquid as cold as possible, consider adding crushed ice. Colder=tastes better.

Add things like fruit for flavorings, or hersheys syrups (chocolate, strawberry).

Use sweet and low, equal, or splenda for sweetening the drink if you dont want more calories.

Hmm... I am tempted to try out the chocolate but if I do open it that means, I have to finish both of them :Q. I will try out the Hershey's syrup on the next cup first and see if that takes out some of the flavor. I am currently attempting to get my brother into eating this stuff as well to lessen the time needed to finish it :D. Oh yeah I was thinking about the blender idea but was too lazy to bring it out of the cabinet.

Mista - GNC's own brand tastes like absolute crap - doesn't matter what flavor, protein powder or weight gainer. Get yourself some protein powder instead of weight gainer. Weight gainer = all calories.

Designer is the best tasting, hands down. Nitro-Tech is pretty good tasting too, albeit overpriced. Don't be fooled by the powders that say "55 GM per serving!!!!!" - what they don't tell you is that 55 GM = 3 scoops, whereas "regular" servings of Designer have 17 GM per scoop. A little bit less per serving but the powder gets pretty nasty tasting with more than 2 scoops.

And I'd highly recommend strawberry - it mixes good with anything - milk, orange juice, fruit juice, water, etc. Chocolate only mixes good with milk and to a certain extent, water. It's good having a protein shake mixed with some juice after a workout - get some sugar and carbs into your system. (Although that's not the best type of carbs to be putting in your body for a post-workout recovery)

If you are not working out it will be fat. You have to break down muscle for it to grow. Muscle ways far more than fat does so if you are concerned about gaining weight adjust your workout for bulk instead of tone etc.

And if you are working out I would suggest a high protein drink instead of a high caloric/carbo drink.
You will get plenty of carbs and calories from the normal foods you eat if not to much.

Most people do not drink enuf water normally and if you are working out you will need even more, you should drink approximately 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water.

Here's another vote for the Designer Protein powder. The strawberry is great and the chocolate is so-so. It's 17.5g per scoop and for some wierd reason they sell it in two varieties where one claims 35g per serving and the other claims 17.5g per serving but the 35g serving is 2 scoops and the 17.5g serving is 1 scoop so they're basically the same thing. Guess it's just another stupid marketing ploy.

If you buy the bigger jug you get almost 3x's the powder for about 40% more money.
