So I'm starting to lift again and need to put my weight back on. GNC was having a 25% off sale so I picked up some of their 2200 weight gainer powder. Mixed 3 scoops with 3 cups of vitamin d milk and haven't wanted to eat since I drank it about 4 hours ago (that's around 2500 calories). Still, this is kind of expensive. Does anyone else use this stuff? Or know of a cheaper alternative? I have a really high metabolism so this is nice because I can now eat normally (3-4 meals/day) as long as a chug a couple cups of this stuff.

Try adding dehydrated milk to milk.

How does that taste? one thing I noticed with the weight gainer is that no matter how long I blend it it's gritty i.e. some of the particles just don't blend with the milk. It also smells like baby formula (though the vanilla flavor isn't too bad .. I think I might add some cocoa powder later on).

It tastes like uh... milk. ;)

Just thicker and richer. cheap source of protein though.

I used to work at a GNC back in the day... Although my goal was to lose weight (175 lbs lost currently), I sold quite a bit of the Weight Gainer 2200... Although it's a bit pricey, it's one of the better ones out there for the money. If you're working out on a routine basis, just make sure you're still getting plenty of carbs to fuel you and LOTS of protein for those muscles. I'm working with a guy right now to help him gain some weight and currently I have him on that weight gainer, 2 chicken breasts, 4 cans/packets of tuna, and lots of greens with every meal along with some brown rice/whole wheat bread/(insert any other healthy carb here)...

It gets a little pricey after a while, but it's all worth it. If you didn't get a GNC Gold Card yet...get one... Saves you LOTS of money and gets you all sorts of nifty discounts throughout the year.
