We have a 2002 Trailblazer LS with a 4.2L I6, and its proving a little weak to pull our 4800LB camper trailer. So were looking to step it up a notch in the power department.. The 4.2L gets 275hp but thats only when the Variable Valve Timeing is fireing over 5000RPM(?), and We're also looking for some fuel efficiency when not pulling a trailer, and at first glance, DOD seems like a good idea for us.
A Trailblazer with DOD gets 14/19, while a Tahoe gets 15/19 with the same size engine, though the Tahoe doesnt have DOD, and weighs 520lbs less. So Chevy builds a more efficient engine to allow for more features/weight in the vehicle while maintaining the same fuel usage?
Opinions, experiences, comments, suggestions..
To recap, were interested in getting a vehicle that can pull 5000lbs safely and reliably, is pretty comfortable, and gets good mileage when not pulling a trailer. We like Chevy, but are open to dodges and possibly an import if it has what it takes..
