GMC Syclone vs. Ford F-150 SVT Lightning

I think the Syclone would walk the SVT, but the Ford is definately more usefull. As I recall the Syclones had stickers on the bed that said "don't put more than 150lbs in here" - so much for being a pick up truck.

You drive cars based on whats "non-popular"

Thats a riot.

I'd take an L any day of the week. One beast of an engine and It's full size, not some tiny little truck. Plus it's got a nicer interior. 😀

Those Syclones were unbelievable. They launch VERY hard due to the AWD. I think they were as quick as GN's right?

Bah, the F-150 looks like crap compared to a Syclone.

Simply badass and AWD to boot 😛

You mean that square looking pos with a body kit and side skirts? LOL, alrighty then.

The Syclone smokes the Lightning in looks. You look at a Lightning and go "Meh." You look at a Syclone and go "schawing!" 😛

I think you need new glasses my friend. That thing looks straight up ghetto

That looks 50x better than the Syclone. I dare ya to start a new thread asking which one looks better. I can guarantee you the Lightning will win hands down. 😛

How about this:

We drop the Lightning body and interior amenities on a Syclone drivetrain. 😉

Really? Nothing against your personal opinion, but I think the L is 10x nicer on the inside and out of the Syclone. 20" Rims, cobra style flood lamps, nice leather and interior. I drove a Typhoon (I was thinking about buying one) but the interior totally turned me off to it. It was a badass machine though. Old S10 bodystyle is just dated now 🙂

But I'm an daily f-150 driver, so I admit my bias 😀

I'd take a Lightning myself, I like the utility... and not having to wait for the turbo to spool up... and no parasitic AWD for racing... and... :Q

Oh I found some interesting numbers

the 2001 (20 less HP than the 2002 and 2003 L ) Lightning. The quarter-mile now whooshes by in an amazing 13.8 seconds at 104 mph (From Car And Driver)

Motor Trend Article

"Syclone was good for an official quarter-mile time of 13.7 seconds at 98.5 mph"

Of course this is all subjective to where they ran, heat, altitude, and so on. It gives you a good idea how close the numbers are.

Its a lot easier to launch AWD vehicles... though past the 60' marker you can tell their AWD. From a dig, Lightnings are some of the meanest motherfawkers around.

Whats awesome is the 2004-2005 Lightning. The show truck had the new 5.4L Triton DOHC (Same engine in the Navigator) that was supercharged to 500hp and 500 torque. THAT is a monster engine. I hope it makes production 😀 They are also using it in the GT40, another beast itself 😱

there's something about 90's cars that i love...maybe its cuz i got my license when it was 1994...and they had the best cars in looks and speed IMO...

mr2
supra
300zx
syclone/typhoon
sc300/400
240sx
NSX
rx-7
f-bodys
mx-6/probe
integra
diablo
f-40
etc...

A couple years ago my dad had a *pristine* low mileage GMC Typhoon on the lot for $20k. That thing was sweet, woulda loved to have it. 🙁

EDIT: Props to the Lightning's power, size, and utiltiy, but I just can't dig that "rollin' with the homies" look.

I thought pickups were meant to haul things offroad. I would be afraid to drive these things on gravel.

Actually the 99-00 had 360 & the 01-03 have 380.
