GMail's spam filter SUCKS

BLATANT spam is going right theough their spam filter. Yahoo's is much better, even Outlooks works better than Gmail.

And I forwarded all of my personal accounts there. :|

Yea, it's not that great. I used to forward my Yahoo mail account to my gmail account, but it had a hard time sorting the spam. Even some stuff that Yahoo had marked as spam, gmail wouldn't sort as spam.

If they weren't making money off of it in some way, they wouldn't be providing the service. Or they are banking on future profits. Either way, they are in business to make money.

Oh sorry.. I shouldn't expect any level of competancy because it's free.

I may not pay for it, but Google didn't create the service for the good of the people, so I AM "paying" for it by simply using the service.

Yahoo = Free, good spam blocker
GMail = Free, crappy spam blocker.


And to the Non-meatheads..

Have you noticed it's gotten worse lately??

That's some highly spurious logic there...

Whether Google is profiting or not is irrelevant. _You_ are not paying them in any way, shape, or form. No money is going from your pockets and into Google's for the service. You are personally giving google nothing for the service.

As for the spam filters being better elsewhere, nobody's holding a gun to your head and saying you have to use GMail. If you don't like it, leave. There's no sunk cost involved since it's free.

my gmail accounts are perfectly fine ... for now.

on the other hand, i have a rant about hotmail (which i use for most of my online buying since '99 -- i haven't really desired to switch to anything different). mail from email addresses on my Safe List (you know, the list where you authorize mail from specific email addresses to go directly to your inbox) keep going into my Junk Mail folder. can't they get these stupid things right?! :|
 
I never signed up for gay pr0n newsletters so I never got any spam on my gmail 😉
As for yahoo... the mofos always send Yahoo affiliated stuff that you can't block as Spam!!!
 
3 mails in my spam folder in 3 months. No spam in the inbox whatsoever for me.

Gmail is teh r0xXx0rz my l33tz0rzz.
