Gmail SPAM

Is anyone else getting pounded with spam in their gmail account? I use to get no spam at all, then last week I started to get one or two a day, and this week I get at least 10 daily....

Anyone else experiencing similar things? Or am I the only one?

sometimes i get 200 in a day. it happens when you respond to general junk internet offers. I filled out a few, and the spam came. at least the filter is pretty good. a few will slip through though.

yup, my spam folder has 600 messages in it. It was ok for a few months but I'm guessing some website I registered on sold my email address. From now on, every website I register with, I use the + trick. You can add a + and then any text after your username and before the @ in your email address and it will still get delivered to you. So, instead of SWScorch@gmail.com, if I'm registering on a site called Screaming Chickens, I will put SWScorch+ScreamingChickens@gmail.com and that way I can see what sites sell my address.

Nice to know.

Im not talking about the spam that gets filtered, im talking about the ones that go straight into my inbox, not the spam box.

it all gets moved to the spam folder, doesnt bother me at all. the increase is because gmail has grown and recently gone public i believe. its to be expected. spam is pretty much unstoppable.

I get a lot more than a couple months ago.

At least the spam filter is pretty good. I've only had a couple messages incorrectly marked as spam, and I can't remember an actual spam slipping through.

Does that really work? Awesome if it does! I am totally going to start doing this.

Thanks man!

Yes, it is in the RFC standard, but don't be surprised if an email system violates that.

Weird, GMail does a great job weeding out the spam for me. I've only seen one or two spam emails in my inbox, but on the other hand, I've had legit emails flagged as spam. A company that I interviewed for couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting their emails until I checked my spam folder. Whoops! 😱
