GMAIL Email Address Question in Off Topic

Hello, I just noticed that a thread I made was LOCKED and I see no reason why it would be. Would the moderator that locked it, (I do not know who it was as they didn't even leave a message) please give me a reason.

1300+ posts... ALL of them asking for a GMail account. Mines wasn't. No one would read that post unless they were looking for a GMail account so 1) they wouldn't know the answer 2) my post would quickly get burried by all the new joining members posts asking for a GMail invite and my post would never get seen. This was somewhat explained in my post and all but 1 of those that replied with a comment knew this and some even flamed the one guy that said my post should be locked.

My question got answered before the lock so I'm happy, but having it locked without a valid reason is annoying.

They have been locking gmail threads since the official thread was posted. Not my call, but it is a valid reason.

Since everyone has GMail on the brain, perhaps the mods could sticky a second thread, something like "GMail comments / questions only, NO INVITES!"
(with "invite post = vacation" as the summary ? 🙂 )
