Gmail defaults to basic html format, but I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.6!

Recently I have noticed that when I login to my gmail account using Firefox 1.5.0.6, none of the more advanced features are present. At the top of the screen this is printed:
"For a better Gmail experience, use a fully supported browser." When I click for more details, I get a page saying Gmail works best with supported browsers, including IE, Firefox, etc. etc. I'm using Firefox, however, so I don't know what the problem is. I can manually login to the regular Gmail view by using the url: http://mail.google.com/gmail?nocheckbrowser which bypasses the browser check.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas of how to fix it? I have cleared the cookies to no avail. This problem does not occur when I use IE, only when I use Firefox. Thanks in advance
