why does it auto add whoever you email into your contact list? anyway to turn it off? it's annoying as sh1t

Yeah I like it too. It's great how if I don't remember there email, but I remember one letter that is all I need to find it! I could understand how someone might not like it though.

Sorry can't help you, you probably can't turn it off.

i suppose so, it's just that i would really like my address book to have only the people i put in it.

I agree, its annoying as hell. I am about to switch to yahoo mail anyways... the new user interface of Yahoo Main beta owns.

the only thing i find annoying as hell is that when you click on the filters tab in the options, you have to go all the way to the bottom to click "create filter" or whatever. why not put it up at the top?

oh, and you're being a bigass baby by whining about the auto-storage of email addresses. who cares?

Settings-->Chat-->"Quick Contacts Size"-->set it to "0"

now you won't see any names in the quick contacts list on the left unless, you click "add contact" from the list and add them there manually.

now, if you don't want others to see you on their quick contacts list, select "Only allow people that I've explicitly approved to chat with me and see when I'm online" in "Auto-add suggested contacts:"

i care because if you have as many contacts as me, you would want to be able to find the person you want quicker. and i also hate the clutter.
