GM vs. Toyota.

GM tweaks Toyota takeover of Millennium Park

Having a little fun with it'

"They're the competition," said GM executive Joel Sassa. "Were we having a little fun with it? Yeah sure."

Toyota paid $300,000 to rent most of Millennium Park and kicked in an additional $500,000 to sponsor a summer concert series there.

GM's promotion was planned for the entire day, but it was cut short during the lunch hour when the 45 cars giving rides started to draw too big a crowd, Sassa said.

Toyota spokesman Xavier Dominicis said there might be another explanation why the cars disappeared mid-afternoon.

"Maybe they ran out of gas," Dominicis said.

atleast they are having gun with it as they say.

I guess they have have some fun while they still can. If they keep losing an average of $1000+ per vehicle they sell while Toyota manages to make over $1000 per vehicle, they won't be smiling for long. Not only that, but GM has to have Toyota and Subaru make some of their cars for them (Pontiac Vibe, Geo/Chevy Prism, Saab 9-2x Aero). That's just sad.

GM owns a portion of subaru.

and GM using Toyota has occured for a LONG time. its cheaper for them. its not sad, its how the world works.

manuf's will share stuff with other manuf's when it will work out for both parties.

IIRC, GM doesn't own any of Subaru, just has interest in Fuji Heavy Industry who actually owns Subaru. There's a big difference.

hows there a big difference?

GM owns a portion of FHI. which owns Subaru.

its no different than me saying if i owned a portion of GM i would thus own a portion of Chevy, Saab, Hummer, etc...
