I can't wait to see what the frontal blindspot will be on the new, revived Hummer.

View attachment 16483
Living in Texas where there is virtually no public transportation we have three cars for the three drivers in the family.
  • 13 Subaru BRZ 4cylinder 6spd manual
  • 09 Malibu LTZ 4 cylinder 6spd auto
  • 15 Chevy Suburban V8 6spd auto
(The suburban is to transport the entire family 5-7 people, hauling stuff, and driving though flooded streets for hurricane evacuation)

The difference in front blind spots between the Suburban and BRZ is striking.

The BRZ is so low that a kid would have to lie directly in front of the car for me to not see them.

The Suburban on the other hand is like the Escalade in that picture. Our does have front and back ultrasonic sensors which help quite a bit with the blind spots.

Although one time an amazon delivery guy left a box right inside our garage and my wife crushed it with the Suburban when she came home. She opened the door and had no chance to see it and the sensors always go off as you enter the garage

(The garage door stays open for 10 minutes then shuts if you don’t hit the close button. Somebody went outside for second, didn’t close it and the Amazon driver came by and instead of leaving it by the door tossed the package in the garage. Then the door shut itself.)

That thing's got like 3 superchargers or something on it, though. lol. plus: we were talking about a Hummer. :D

OK, I didn't even watch it before posting. That doesn't look like a dude that would roll on anything but naturally aspirated...

...and lol; now that I actually watched more than 3 seconds--yes, a 3 turbo set up....but ah, they kinda look like superchargers. whatever. mostly the same thing, right?

They almost have to go with a "Halo" product first, Look at the ford Mach-e "Mustang". With something like this they may actually come close to making a profit on it and learn a bunch of things that will trickle down to smaller/cheaper vehicles a few year out. I'm going to assume it will look better than the Hideous Cybertruck but going off the new Silverado lineup (except Trailboss) I'm not so sure. I'm really hoping someone gets off there ass and builds a Medium range plug in hybrid for those of use that live in the sticks, I'd love a 1/2 ton truck with a small 4cyl turbo+100 mile EV range. Most all Plugin hybrids just done have enough range to get me to work and back in the summer, let alone -20*f in the winter.

what a stupid fucking vehicle. I hope this bankrupts GMC, lol.

Take note of your liberal overlords all you union dues paying American workers. Clearly you really matter to these jokers, lol.

Seriously.
I’d expect high 5 figures. Since your high-end Denalis are already there.

more i would say 6 figures probably well into the 200k point if were looking at a battery with 100kwh+ and a titanium undershell to protect all that.

The plug in hybrid F-150 is due out later this year. How much battery capacity it has is an open question. Power export is one of the things Ford says is in demand with fleet users so it would have to be a decent capacity I think.

its going to be a smallish truck/suv or something. people sure get worked up about a new model with an old name. I'll wait till i actually see it to have an opinion. i think the front looks cool.

well GM claims 1000HP.

The telsa P100D platform has a 588 horsepower and 920 lb-ft of torque with dual motors.
That means this hummer has to have motors greater then Tesla's cherry picked P100D motors.

That means the car would most likely need to sport more then 2 motors, as i just dont see how GM is going to get motors more powerful then Tesla.

The P100D needs the 100KWH battery pack, not just for range, but for output.
To power 588hp motors, you need that high current going from said batteries to motor.
That would mean again, a 1000HP motors would require batteries greater then 100KWH or some kind of super capacitor to shoot the motors with high current, which again, i fail how GM can produce greater products then Tesla, when all they have been getting there feet wet with is the Volt, and Bolt.

1000HP, im sorry, they are trying to 1 up the trackhawk, which in itself is a monster car, but a hummer which can displace said trackhawk.
Im laughing in side in how childish the PR department of GM must of been to write that 1000HP, just to 1 up the trackhawk.

Now u see why i say this car will cost you and then some.
This will quite possibly be GM's most expensive car, and then some, if they pull it off as paper.
high 5 figures? yeah right, look more into lower-mid 6 figures.

nah. Tesla Cybertruck is the new Escalade.

I can't tell if that is a weird Al type joke song or if that is actually something people listen to. The name sounds like some sort of gay porn spoof featuring Shrek.

So GM finally revealed targeted specs on the GMC Hummer EV truck. It will be released in the fall of 2021 as 2022 model. It will start at $112,595 and have 350 mile range.

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/10/20/gm-unveils-hummer-ev-as-worlds-first-supertruck-for-112600.html

I'm sorry but Tesla Cybertruck tri-motor starts at $69,990 with 500 mile range. It's no contest. Just shows you just how far GM is behind Tesla when it comes to battery and EV technologies. They can't compete in price and range. And GM tech will be inferior as well. Inferior truck overall. But I'm sure some people will buy it since it has Hummer name and is not a Tesla.

the volt/bolt are both excellent and reliable vehicles. GM's super cruise uses superior tech with its lidar to the cameras in a tesla, and they have been playing with this tech for decades longer than tesla has existed. just like the 3, and every other Tesla model, they may deliver but it will be later than expected and with serious quality issues that will be explained away by its fans. also, the avg transaction price for the cybertruck will be much higher, the GM one has to price in all the discounts they mess around with. We will see. I hope they both sell well.

How do you figure? Tesla is very much a "pay the price it is" game.
