GM to end production of Envoy XUV

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - General Motors Corp. is ending production of the Envoy XUV, a five-passenger sport utility vehicle that can also be used as a pickup truck.

Inalfa Roof Systems, which makes the sliding rear roof for the XUV, said GM told its suppliers last week that it would stop making the vehicles amid lackluster sales. Production, which began 18 months ago, will cease March 31. The XUV is made exclusively at the Oklahoma City plant.

The plant will continue to make seven-passenger versions of the Envoy, including the Envoy Denali, a luxury version of the vehicle, Kathy Odem, a plant spokeswoman, said Friday.

The company said the decision will not affect jobs at the plant. GM employs more than 2,200 people in Oklahoma City. Workers also assemble seven-passenger versions of the Chevrolet TrailBlazer and Isuzu Ascender.

man that things ugly. what is it with american suvs and looking like crap? just when theyre getting the styling down for smaller cars (after 20 years).

Maybe GM is finally realizing that gimmick marketing has no place in the REAL automobile market.....you will always sell a few but they are not going to be profitable in the long run.

its too bad.. my dad would love the roof for hauling his plants/mini trees..

right now he's about to retired his 1986 ford grand marquis station wagon... that thing is huge... v8 302 engine 5.0l... same as the mustangs.. 🙂

theyre still being sold now, and i really doubt theyll start selling quickly all of a sudden. there should be lots still around when hes looking to buy something new.

a couple things to consider....
->subaru is owned by gm so whomever commented on the subaru it is actually a gm vehicle
->doesnt gm hold the majority of the auto market in the USA?
->i am not surprised that one of the new vehicles would not do well considering they released a bunch
->i think the equinox is much nicer than the xuv - xuv is so LONG looking

GM has a 20% stake in Fuji Heavy Industries. It's not a controlling investment.
