GM reports 6th straight quarterly Loss

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/earns_gm;_yl...0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA2Z2szazkxBHNlYwN0bQ--
DETROIT - General Motors Corp. reported a first-quarter loss of $323 million Thursday, the sixth straight quarterly loss for the world's largest automaker which is in the midst of an overhaul that includes hefty job cuts within its critical North American operations.

holy grap, they made an extra 1 billion in the first quarter... very very amazing.

hell, if they didnt have a one time pre-tax expense, they would have made a damn profit!

Included in the first-quarter results was a one-time pretax charge of $1 billion in for expenses

haha, you guys always bitch about domestics and I don't get why. My blazer has got 178K on it and it works perfectly, not a single problem. My mom's Lumina has 144K on it and that also works without any problems. My dad's 94 Intrepid has 223K on it and works better than most newer cars I drive.

We also used to have a 88 Buick Park avenue that went to 238K before we got rid of it due to the radiator.

So, domestics can't be all that bad.

Meh...really depends on the car and the owner. I had an 85 GMC Jimmy that ran very dependably in high school. My folks bought a used '92 Chevy Berretta for me to go to college with because they were worried about the Jimmy making the trip between CC, TX and Alabama. Turns out the Berretta was a hunk of junk that I was constantly having to repair. Meanwhile, my mother-in-law has a Mercedes that is always in the shop and I'm now driving my wife's old beatup '95 Nissan Pathfinder and will continue to do so until the engine dies.

Yup, it pretty much depends on experience. We just happened to have 2 GM cars that gave us headaches so it left a bad taste in our mouth. That and there are no domestic cars that really interest our family. But I'm sure for every bad experience there's another family that has had no problems... the same goes for imports. My parents Bimmer has had its share of problems.

Good for them! Maybe next year they will make a car I want to buy

Knowing GM, they'll make a car you almost want to buy, then make 10 versions of it.

Great news, now I hope to hear the same for Ford.

im very very scared for Ford, they took HUGE and i mean HUGE hits in the full size SUV market, and LOTS of other vehicles took large hits.

🙁 Quite sad indeed. I actually really like most of what they have right now.
