First off, this thread is not about GM quality, style, popularity or anything else related to their vehicles.
Now as some of you may or may not know, GM has been issuing a ton of recalls lately and the new CEO has been pretty upfront about them and uncovering why the issues were hidden and has even fired people in her company responsible for the cover up.
It's my opinion that women's attitudes are perceived and treated differently by people, whether on purpose or not and since the CEO is a women I'm wondering how people are viewing her and how she is handling this.
I'm also of the opinion that consumers have a responsibility to be good consumers in a capitalist society, ie they should value quality, as well as things like worker treatment, place of origin, etc, besides only buying on price. So my concern is that the CEO will be blamed for these recalls and her tenure will be marked by quality issues and incompetence as opposed to an open and honest run. The reason for even caring about this situation is that I feel companies should do the right thing and not simply hide an issue and pay people off when they are found out. My concern is that if GM is lambasted, either by the media or by consumers that other companies will take away from this situation that it's better to cover things up as opposed to being honest and doing what's right for the consumer.
What's everyone else's take on it?
