If your column shift lever in your new GM truck is hitting the key, there's a TSB for that.
Seems like this should have been caught during testing.

In a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) dated November 6, 2014, GM instructed dealer service departments to supply replacement keys to owners of certain full-sized 2014 and 2015 SUVs and pickups if they find the column shifter bumping into the key.
The problem can happen if the tilt steering column is adjusted to its highest position and a driver shifts into or out of Park. Affected vehicles include the 2014 and 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup; 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban; and the 2015 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL.
