I was thinking about getting a Chevy Colorado(the S-10 replacement) since I had assumed it would be getting the 270hp 4.2L from the Trailblazer. I'm sort of pissed they're only offering the watered down versions though.

GM says there are no plans to offer the 4.2-liter inline six from the sport-utilities in the Canyon and Colorado, and no plans to use the inline engines in the sport-utilities. GM said on Wednesday, July 31, that it will offer a 5.3-liter V-8 as an option in its mid-sized sport-utilities beginning this fall.

Yes, it sucks that the 4.2 won't be offered in the Colorado, but never say never.

A 5.3 in a Trailbazer? Going up against the RT Durango?

god, GM is lucky I don't design their cars..

light trucks and cars get a 350.

the high-performance cars (and some trucks) have a blown 454.

and then a big honkin' diesel in the other trucks.

I guess they wouldnt be able to sell them in CA, huh?;)

yep the Durango will get smoked like a turkey too, the 2002 5.3's are already hitting 300HP easy from the factory now too :)

plus with the Vortec V8's going into the blazers the kits to fit the 6.0 liter into the Colorado will be fast available :D already kits to put LS1's in the current one's :)

Mercury Marine used to have 3.8L 4, in their stern drives, Don't know when they stopped making it.

Screw the Durango, put it in the Dakota (which is a bit lighter). I wonder if Dodge will sell 4.7/5.2/5.9-->5.7 hemi conversion kits.

someone will make them.

The Dakota R/T is slated to get the 5.7 Hemi in 2004 when they redesign it. The durango gets a face lift in 2005.

Horsepower figures are not final, but GM expects the 2.8-liter four-cylinder to produce about 170 hp, a 50-hp gain over the current 2.2-liter inline four. The 3.5-liter inline five-cylinder should develop about 215 hp, up from the 180 or 190 available in the current 4.3-liter V-6.

:p

What happened to the rumored turbo charged one that was putting out ~300 HP? :(
