Anyone know of a forum where people discuss tuning or tweaking the 3800 V6 that GM puts in some of it's cars?

Some people with that are less endowed go with the super charger on the 3800. There's the V6 forum section on ls1.com, but there's not too much discussion going on there. I suppose it's due to the site called being called LS1. heh

the engines are so good that you can't tweak them, that's why ;)

you can get things like K&N filters and that type of stuff if that's the way you want to go.

Well, unfortunately, there is not nearly the aftermarket performance market for the 3800 Series engine as there is for the older 3.8L 231cid V6 engines used in the turbo Regals and Grand Nationals from 1978 to 1987, and no they are not the same. Other than lineage, displacement, and # of cylinders, they share little else in common.

I remember reading the website of a guy who wanted to "build-up" the 3800 Series II engine in his late-90's Firebird and he spent a lot of time looking for aftermarket parts. He could find very few major aftermarket parts except for a PROM chip, a set of underdrive pulleys, some tweaked/rebuilt OEM heads, and a couple other minor things.

There are two versions of the 3800 Series engine coded "L36" and "L67", the L36 is the normally aspired version and the L67 is the supercharged version. The L67 is already pretty tweaked from the factory with a better camshaft and a stronger bottom end.

So this guy basically had his L36 torn-down and rebuilt with L67 pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, and other parts, plus had the heads ported/polished. Then he had an aftermarket ATI supercharger custom fitted that put out more HP/TQ than the OEM supercharger (Eaton M90) found on the Bonneville and Grand Prix. This cost him like $12,000+ altogether, which is crazy if you ask me.

There are a couple shops who have a lot of experience with the 3800 Series and will build you one...for a nice fee of course. There are also a few more aftermarket parts available since this guy was building his Firebird, but still nothing like there should be.

Edit: Sorry, I just saw you wanted forums. Well I was on the right track, if you go to some of those websites, they have links to Bonneville and GTP sites that offer forums.
