GM 24-hour test drive

Saw a couple GM commercials recently. Basically you can test drive a GM vehicel for 24 hr. If you end up not buying a GM, they'll pay you $250. pretty new concept.

Their new moto: "every big decision deserves 24 hours!"

Funny you mention that, as your WRX is a GM car...

EDIT: Missing a comma.

Barely. GM has little control over what goes on at Subaru IMHO. Unless I see an '05 Legacy wearing a Chevy badge I'll continue to believe that.

Anyhow, this $250 is news to me.....

What's keeping people from abusing this service?

You have to show proof of purchase that you actually BOUGHT a car from one of their competitors in order to collect $250.00.

IMHO not worth the hassle in paperwork if you've got your mind set on a non-GM car.

How great would it be to test drive a Cavalier, then come back a day later w/ a receipt for an Aston Martin DB9 to collect your $250?

I'd have to give them at least 2-3 hours to set up the deal, and 2-3 hours to undo it a day later - meanwhile listen to a hard-sales pitch while they dig around for the right forms and stuff?

No thanks - my time is wirth more than that. 🙂

Worth more than the look on their faces? I think not. Especially if you drove up in it.

Wonder if they'd be mad if you smoked a big fat cigar in the car before returning it.

And had sex in the back seat, leaving obvious stains.

... and pubic hairs stuck to the window...

WTFCATKILLEDBYSTEAK ?

Maybe I don't visit OT enough or didn't see that movie or something, lol... that flew right over my head...

No, it's a Subaru. That's like saying my Nissan Maxima is a Renault.

Besides, I'm almost positive that Subaru isn't part of the 24 hour test drive program. While Saab is. Personally I think Saab would do better to downplay it's part in GM, similar to how Volvo downplays it's part in Ford. It's not classy to be owned by an American.
