Glowing/ghosting/streaking on 19" CRT

I have a Cornerstone p1460 19" monitor. I'm having several problems with it. I contacted a Cornerstone hardware engineer with my problems. I mentioned that it light things next to a darker background (it's not limited to just black and white) produce a nearly half inch glow into the dark back ground. Stuff also streaks when it moves, most noticably in games. Well, he said this is common for monitors of this size. What I want to know is how many of you with 19" flat screen CRT monitors are having this problem.

IMHO that is quite a load of male bovine excrement. I've noticed on my older Iiyama not-quite-flat CRT, that in a totally black screen (like during a ppt presentation), with a white mouse pointer moving in the screen quickly, there will be a very tiny bit of ghosting. However, it's nothing like what you describe.
In conclusion, I'm not a monitor technology expert, but I do know that the condition you experience is not normal - at least not on any of the newer 19 inch monitors that I've seen.

The glow you see is phosphor bleed

This is a phenomenon that occurs when using a black background. Toolbars or
applications that use a white field next to the black background will show a
glow or lighter shade up to one inch into the black field. This is commonly
known as phosphor bleed.

Glow in the dark toys all use a long persistence phosphor similar to the
phosphor used in T.V.?s and computer monitors. It doesn't take much of a beam or
light wave to make them glow. If you have ever turned your TV off when the room
is completely dark, you will notice the phosphors glow for a period of time
after the unit is off.

Basically the light from the active white phosphors glow or have a halo affect
into the black region. As the monitors size gets larger this phenomena becomes
more apparent.

Streaking may actually be a problem. I would not expect any streaking as you describe
it. Things that can cause streaking are extension cables, switch boxes or KVM switches,
are you using any of these? If not I suggest you call tech support and get a new unit.

A new unit being a whole monitor or a different video cable? I'm not using any extensions or whatever.
