Glossy vs Matte?

And I am wondering what is the difference between Glossy and Matte?

I am guessing Glossy is "shiny" and Matte is... not "shiny"?

Are there any other practical uses? What are some characteristics of them?

Thanks guys 😀

Matte is sort of "textured". I prefer matte because it looks more professional. Glossy reminds me of a cheap polaroid.

you got it right Glossy is shiny and Matte is not, thats the only difference, the reason glossy paper is glossy is because "MOST" prnters cant render black right and it looks stupid on matte paper, but shutterfly does a great job and matte looks fine. and if you are putting these in a frame behind glass of plexy matte is fine

glossy is good for bright popping out colors in photos
matte is good for subtle color pictures and boring compositions.
