Gloss black DVD drive?

So...yeah, as above.

Got bored of the blue X-QPACK case, so bought the solid black one (like the windows on the old one, so will probably end up selling the old X-QPACK with the blue detailed front and solid black sides).

Anyway, the new black one is very glossy black. VERY glossy. Like, "piano black" glossy.

And my old matte black Lite-On DVD drive now looks truly crappy in it.

So...suggestions?

Take the dvd drive out, and take the face off, then put a couple of coats of black gloss krylon fusion on it. You'll be good to go then (make sure you put "light" coats on, otherwise it won't look right).

I guess the next question is - what kind of drives have removable face plates?

Right now, using a Lite-On drive, which has a face plate on the drive itself, but the plate on the actual drive tray is...ummm...QUITE integrated with it. Don't see any easy way to remove that.

Nah...they all can be removed ...just be careful as some pull up, others pull wide, and then they slip off...

IceBreakerG is correct by stating that few light coats are better then 1 heavy...just make sure the surface is clean before painting.

This Case has Lite-On Drives...

Flip it upside down, you should see some clips on the underside of the tray bezel. Press those in with a paper clip and slide bezel down (if still upside down) or up (if right side up).

Depending on the model, it may slide off to the side, so don't try to force it just because I said it slides up.
