Glock 17 any good?

Any Glock 17 owners? I'm interested in this gun since I'm shooting now. Any problems with it? I can get a brand new one for about 500 dollars plus FFL license fees. Is that a good deal? Thanks guys! 🙂

Oh, and are there any other comparable 9mm handguns that you guys reccomend?

no, it takes two headshots to kill and the burst is really inaccurate😉

No kidding. I mean, 10 shots to take someone down? I'll take a knife anyday 😛

🙂

Well i fired a Glock 23 this weekend, and I think its fairly similiar except a 23 is .40 caliber as opposed to 9 mm. I actually preferred it to the Sig P229 or the H&K USP .40. It seemed to have less recoil than the other 2 from what I could tell, and I liked the trigger on it. The disadvantage to glocks are that they dont have the single action hammer so theres no real safety on them. But overall I loved it.

One thing i forgot to mention is if you have big hands you have to watch the knuckes. My uncle got some bloody knuckles cause the handle is fairly small and the slide can hit the hands. But I fired lots of rounds through it and didnt have any problems and I have fairly large hands.

You can run over it with your car, use it as a hammer to build a house and it will still shoot pretty well.

I have a 22C & a model 26.

Am not a big fan of the 9mm, like .40 & love the 357Sig

I have an older model Glock 17. I like it, but I prefer the SIG P228 personally. Both very fine handguns, it all comes down to personal preference.

Huh. I was told otherwise, maybe it's the local fees from the dealer. I'm trying to keep it under 500. Thanks for the tips guys! 🙂

What's the difference between the two? Is the .40 better?

I have owned a glock 17 for about 10 years, its a great pistol. Very reliable and pretty accurate. Don't get adjustable sights, trust me they are very fragile and will break off easily. My brother in law just picked up a glock 19 today (should be same price as the 17) for like $489 before tax, so it's doable. But now you only get the 10 round magazines with them, instead of the 17 rnd mags like mine has.

Thanks for the advice.

Heh, my Dad has a Smith Wesson 9mm that he never shot. It's brand new with 3 17rnd mags. 😛

another happy 17 owner and I have two of the hi-cap magazines just in case a small army tries to take over my house. The 19 is smaller than the 17, I don't have the biggest hands in the world and it felt too small compared to the 17. The "c" models are vented and have much less kick, not really a problem w a 9mm but if you decide to move up to a .45 I would consider it. Check some local ranges and see if they have one you can rent.
