I feel stupid for not having figured this out but could someone tell me how to mount the HSF to the CPU? The metal clip seems beyond me.

Flex the clip to loosen it and then use a flat head screwdriver to help push it down-it will require quite a bit of force. Be VERY careful not to tilt the hsf because the core is fragile.
